Princess Peach is a Beast

Facebook comments strike back!
So in the comments of a Nintendo post (on Facebook *shiver*) I saw someone complain about how they're sick of Princess Peach being portrayed as a weak damsel in need of saving. This person was demanding a game where Princess Peach rescues the Mario Bros instead of them rescuing her, and they insulted Nintendo for being 'sexist'.Alright so FIRST of all, in 2005 Nintendo released a game for the DS called Super Princess Peach, it's an awesome game with a lot of replay-ability and oh... guess what? You play as Peach and rescue Mario. It's a shame that this game hasn't had any sequels considering it was quite popular and had a lot of potential. But that's another story.
Princess Toadstool is also a playable character in Super Mario Bros. 2, where she was the favourite character of many players because she could fly! Girl power, am I right?
SECONDLY, Princess Peach is anything but weak. Just because she is feminine and is often in spots of trouble, it doesn't mean she isn't a tough cookie. Idk about you, but I couldn't really fight off a giant dragon turtle thing if it tried to kidnap me, even though I'm not a dainty Princess. The poor girl just has tough luck.
In the Smash Bros. games, Princess Peach is a go-to character for me because she is GOOD at fighting. People easily underestimate her because she is a pretty Princess (a character for girl players, some would say), but that fact just makes her all the more stronger. A frying pan as a weapon? Hell yeah! I'll KO you with it. You feeling hungry? How about a turnip to the head!
And THIRDLY, I think the fact that this person underestimated Princess Peach due to her appearance is sexist. They did no research into Peach's character and how she has been portrayed in games, they just assumed. Nintendo is the last video game company I would ever label as sexist, it goes against everything they're trying to achieve.
Aight, I'm out.
P.S. Princess Peach is a babe

ReplyDeleteI think people are just looking for any reason to attack something, regardless if its an innocent game from decades ago. They would just be trying to stir the pot to get themselves some attention. Princess Peach is hella strong, screw people that think otherwise.
